Welcome to Marion, NC, a Main Street City. Marion, incorporated in 1844, is a small Western North Carolina city located just off Interstate 40. With a temperate climate, a city population of over 7,000 and a greater Marion population of 20,000, Marion has excellent industrial and retail opportunities.
 The Marion Business Association works in close association with the City of Marion, McDowell Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Center at McDowell Technical College and the McDowell Economic Development Association of McDowell County to promote the growth of new and established businesses.

Small Busness Assistance |
Marion Business Association is partnering with the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center to offer local entrepreneurs express loans of up to $5,000 to start or expand a small business through the center’s Microenterprise Loan Program. The Rural Center has committed $250,000 for their new express loan product. The express loan gives a chance to small business owners that aren’t quite ready for a larger business loan or who need to build their credit. The program also offers sound, practical guidance to help make these burgeoning enterprises a success.
